The length of time it takes to install solar panels depends on the size of the system and the complexity of the installation. Typically, residential installations themselves take 1-3 days while commercial installations can take several weeks or more.
However, there are significant planning, permitting, and pre-construction phases that must take place in addition to coordination with your local utility providers and municipalities. Depending on your location the time from authorization to installation is anywhere between 30 - 60 days or more. The fastest install time we've witnessed is approximately 2 weeks.
During a solar consultation, our team will assess your property's energy needs and evaluate the feasibility of solar installation. We will also provide you with information on available incentives and financing options.
Yes, there are federal and state tax incentives available for solar installation. You must have a taxable income and tax liability to take advantage of these incentives. These incentives can help reduce the cost of installation and increase rate of your Return on Investment.
For those without a tax liability or who wish to pay $0 out of pocket while still enjoying the benefits of solar, we have programs to fit your needs!
Absolutely not, "FREE" is a marketing term that is overused & utilized as a hook by predatory marketing & solar companies to get your attention. As with any industry, there are bad actors and individuals/entities that are trying to exploit people. Beware of these companies and avoid them.
With that being said, Solar can be financed (through third-party lenders) or rented/leased (through PPA's aka Power Purchase Agreements). For many people, your monthly utility costs already exceed what your monthly payment on your Solar System would be & those utility costs are being aggressively increased constantly, thus your savings due to going solar will increase over time. Installing a Solar System can effectively act as a "Bill Swap" where your new bill will be smaller than your existing bill that you're already obligated to pay. Previously you haven't had a choice in where you purchased your energy from and most people are subjected to the will of their local utility company's monopoly - NOT ANYMORE! Energy deregulation has given you the opportunity to choose where you get your electricity from and it is much cheaper to harness it from the solar energy already being delivered to your roof by the sun. To put it plainly and simply... it makes sense when you run the numbers!
Additionally, While there are government subsidized programs to improve accessibility and affordability such as the Inflation Reduction Act which includes a 30% dollar-for-dollar tax credit for any solar projects and all related & required work; the property owner(s) MUST have a tax liability to take advantage of this tax credit. The credit can be spread out over 5 years, so there is typically ample time to realize it for most property owner(s).
With all of the above being understood - solar projects are 100% tax deductible including all interest paid for any financing. Depending on the type of system installed including whether a battery system was installed with your project, there are advantageous accounting practices including accelerated deprecation that allow you to write-off the majority of the project cost (including batteries, re-roofs, ancillary work, etc).
Between the immediate savings on utility costs, tax credits, write-offs, added value to your property, & the peace of mind there is no doubt that going Solar in 2024 and beyond is one of the smartest decisions you can make for your property. It is certainly NOT FREE, but when all costs and benefits are accounted for it is absolutely true that your solar system's benefits will greatly outweigh the cost and your financial impact due to going Solar will be a NET POSITIVE GAIN in a surprisingly short period of time. It will be much more expensive for your business or family to choose not to install solar on your property in the long run.
